Katy Perry on Saturday Night Online (17/08/2013)

WHAT IS PSYCHOLOGY: “Psychology” comes from 2 words: psyche and logos. The word psyche is from the Greek word meaning “breath of life”, i.e., “soul or spirit”, loosely translated as MIND. And logos means “knowledge”, “study”: like all “ologies”. Now here’s the thing that has got me confused as the true academic sense of soul is the mind how come you are separating the mind from soul and demonizing the mind. It’s just that I am a Psychosocial studies student at the University of London? I just can’t understand what you are on about. The soul is the immaterial aspect or essence of a human being, that which confers individuality and humanity, often considered to be synonymous with the mind or the self. In theology, the soul is further defined as that part of the individual which partakes of divinity and often is considered to survive the death of the body1
